SUMMARY:Rainy Day Blues Society Presents: The Strange Tones & Dusky Blues
DESCRIPTION:$10 Cover/$5 for RDBS members \nProceeds go to support the “Road to Memphis Challenge” \nStrange Tones Press Release \n“If surf guitar god Dick Dale found himself in Bogie’s Maltese Falcon film-noir underworld\, and drank beer at the seedy bar with bluesmen Jimmy Reed and Magic Sam\, the resulting soundtrack might be exactly what the Strange Tones purvey.” – Oregonian \nThe wildly entertaining Strange Tones have blended a unique concoction of original blues\, rockabilly\, surf\, and vintage R&B\, and finished it off with a private eye twist. They’ve shaken and stirred these elements into their own original sound and style known as Crime-A-Billy. Well-crafted songwriting\, top-notch musicianship\, and a playful\, engaging stage show have contributed to the band’s induction into the Hall of Fame and a multitude of awards from the Cascade Blues Association. Led by the husband-and-wife team of Guitar Julie & bassist Andy Strange\, and fortified by longtime partners guitarist Suburban Slim and drummer Andy Gauthier\, this group forms “… one of Portland’s most original and accomplished bands.” – Oregonian. \n“Many people find it hard to show something new within electric blues format and they should ask The Strange Tones for some private lessons as they have found their own niche and truly shine.” – The Voice of the Blues\, Przemek Draheim\, Poland \n“….this too-cool-for-school quartet are a guaranteed good time\, mixing sizzling surf\, righteous rockabilly and secret-agent-man sang froid. There are zillions of bands in this naked city\, but very few sound as good as the Strange Tones…”  – Portland Monthly Magazine \n
