SUMMARY:NW Premium Comedy Featuring Susan Rice
DESCRIPTION:$15 Advance (Online Only) Click here to get your tickets today! \n$20 Day of show \nHosted by James”Blame” & James Manning The Third \nFeatured comic: Leigh Anne Jasheway \nHeadliner: Susan Rice \nSusan Rice: https://www.susanricecomedy.com/ \n\nSusan Rice loves to make people laugh.  She began her professional comedy career in 1983 and at present is still making people laugh. \nHer career has taken her all over the country playing all the comedy clubs of the 1980s & ’90s. Appearing on all the Network & Cable Comedy channels solidified Rice’s credentials as a professional comedian. \n The new century found her working more corporate events for companies such as Microsoft and Intell as well as The Red Hat Society. \n In 2015 Rice was voted by her peers and patrons of comedy  The Willamette Weekly’s “Portland’s Funniest Person” \nDuring the Pandemic in 2021\, Rice wanted to bring comedy back into her local scene of Portland OR. She produced the first St.Johns Comedy Festival to help the local Portland comics and her small neighborhood of St. Johns in North Portland.  She continues that festival and hopes it brings people together with laughter. \nAt 70 Susan Rice has found a broader range of audience than she remembers ever having as a young comedian. She appeals to both young and old. Reminding everyone that humor has no age limit and laughter is the one human emotion that heals. \nIn August of 2021\, Rice launched the first-ever ” St. Johns Comedy Festival \n\n\n Stjohnscomedyfest.com \n  Rice’s goal for this festival was to help the small businesses of her beloved St. Johns North Portland neighborhood and the wonderful talented comedians of Portland. \n Although the festival was only 2 days and 3 shows the turnout was wonderful. \n Rice hopes to continue this festival to promote laughter and healing throughout her community and state. \n\nLeigh Anne Jasheway : https://www.accidentalcomic.com/ \nWho am I\, you may be asking? (Not “Who am I?” as in who are you\, but “Who am I?” as in “Who is this Leigh Anne Jasheway person and why is her name so long?” \nGood question. I’d want to know the same thing if I were you. The short answer is that I am a stress management and humor expert\, comedy writer\, stand-up comic\, and comedy instructor/coach. I have an M.P.H. degree which is either stands for masters of public health or mistress of public humor (and\, occasionally\, miles per hour\, but only if I’ve had too many espressos). In lieu of actually getting a real job\, I consult with organizations (and disorganizations) on how to use humor to manage stress\, change\, and conflict\, and boost creativity\, teamwork and morale. My mission\, if I decide to accept it\, is to help the world become healthier and more sane through laughter. \nEvery year\, I speak to between 30-40 groups (mostly of people\, although I have performed for dogs and once for a room full of empty chairs). I regularly create presentations and workshops for educational institutions\, hospitals and healthcare organizations\, not-for-profit groups\, and corporations. You can see a clip of one of my presentations here. \nIn 2003\, I won the Erma Bombeck Award for Humor Writing\, which probably explains why I have laugh lines on my face\, my stomach\, and oddly\, my pancreas. I have 26 published books and my work has appeared in more than a dozen anthologies\, including the Chicken Soup series and Marlo Thomas’ The Right Words at the Right Time 2. I wrote a regular humor column for The Comic News for almost 10 years and for the Weekend section of The Register Guard for 9. \nI have hosted two radio programs\, Women Under the Influence of Laughter\, on KOPT AM in Eugene\, Oregon and the Giggle Spot\, on All Comedy 1450. \nWhen not avoiding work and trying to find things I have misplaced\, I teach comedy writing and stand-up\, both at my local community college and online. I’m also a part-time faculty member at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communications. Every spring\, near April Fool’s Day\, I organize an annual comedy benefit\, the Laff Off\, and every November\, I coordinate the annual Northwest Women’s Comedy Festival. \nIn my spare time\, I hot flash.
