SUMMARY:NW Premium Comedy Featuring: Leigh Anne Jasheway
DESCRIPTION:$15 Advance Click here to get your advance tickets today! \n$20 Day of show \nHosted By: James “Blame” & James Manning the 3rd \nOpener: Jen Jay \nFeaturing: Cara Rosellini \nSpecial Guest: Bert Walpach \nHeadliner: Leigh Anne Jasheway Click here for more info \n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT LEIGH ANNE\n\n\n\nWho am I\, you may be asking? (Not “Who am I?” as in who are you\, but “Who am I?” as in “Who is this Leigh Anne Jasheway person and why is her name so long?”  \nGood question. I’d want to know the same thing if I were you. The short answer is that I am a stress management and humor expert\, comedy writer\, stand-up comic\, and comedy instructor/coach. I have an M.P.H. degree which is either stands for masters of public health or mistress of public humor (and\, occasionally\, miles per hour\, but only if I’ve had too many espressos). In lieu of actually getting a real job\, I consult with organizations (and disorganizations) on how to use humor to manage stress\, change\, and conflict\, and boost creativity\, teamwork and morale. My mission\, if I decide to accept it\, is to help the world become healthier and more sane through laughter. \nEvery year\, I speak to between 30-40 groups (mostly of people\, although I have performed for dogs and once for a room full of empty chairs). I regularly create presentations and workshops for educational institutions\, hospitals and healthcare organizations\, not-for-profit groups\, and corporations. You can see a clip of one of my presentations here. \nIn 2003\, I won the Erma Bombeck Award for Humor Writing\, which probably explains why I have laugh lines on my face\, my stomach\, and oddly\, my pancreas. I have 26 published books and my work has appeared in more than a dozen anthologies\, including the Chicken Soup series and Marlo Thomas’ The Right Words at the Right Time 2. I wrote a regular humor column for The Comic News for almost 10 years and for the Weekend section of The Register Guard for 9. \nI have hosted two radio programs\, Women Under the Influence of Laughter\, on KOPT AM in Eugene\, Oregon and the Giggle Spot\, on All Comedy 1450. \nWhen not avoiding work and trying to find things I have misplaced\, I teach comedy writing and stand-up\, both at my local community college and online. I’m also a part-time faculty member at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communications. Every spring\, near April Fool’s Day\, I organize an annual comedy benefit\, the Laff Off\, and every November\, I coordinate the annual Northwest Women’s Comedy Festival. \nIn my spare time\, I hot flash.

SUMMARY:The Blue Owens Band
DESCRIPTION:Blues/R&B \n$7 Cover \n\n\nBlue Owens has been blowing the harmonica since the day he was gifted a harp while hitchhiking across the States as a teen. Prior to landing in the Pacific Northwest\, and becoming deeply rooted in the Eugene\, Oregon blues scene\, Blue spent some years in Austin\, Texas hanging out with his friend\, the blues great\, James Cotton. It was with Cotton that Blue perfected his craft. The Blue Owens Band has honed their original songs in front of live audiences\, responding to their listeners\, “working the tip jar” in the traditional\, old-blues way\, bringing down the roof with house-rocking\, hard-driving blues. The band’s original tunes are fueled by Blue’s jaw dropping harmonica riffs. \nEither a band is great together or they aren’t great at all\, and with The Blue Owens Band\, it is clear as daylight that all of these blues cats are great\, hand-picked musicians who love what they do and love bringing it for you.

SUMMARY:John Nemeth
DESCRIPTION:Workshop-5-7pm $40.00\nShow-  9-11pm $22.00\nCombo for both events $55.00\nRDBS members will receive a discount code in their email from RDBS\n\nClick here for advance tickets \nAbout: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs a teenager in the early ‘90s growing up in the muddy potato fields of Idaho\, John Németh was drawn to the hard-edged hip hop sounds and rock bands of the day\, until a friend\, Tom Moore\, introduced him to the Junior Wells and Buddy Guy classic “Hoodoo Man Blues.” Together they formed Fat John & the 3 Slims\, which is still regarded as a legendary band in the Boise region. John played harp and sang in local bands\, often opening the show for nationally touring blues acts and quickly caught the ear of established blues musicians. It didn’t take long before he was releasing his own recordings\, “The Jack Of Harps” (2002) and “Come And Get It” (2004)\, featuring Junior Watson\, and performing in Junior Watson’s band. \nJohn relocated to San Francisco in 2004\, where he had the bitter-sweet good fortune to undertake a two-year stint with Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets\, filling in for the ailing Sam Myers. Németh immersed himself in the deep musical waters of the Bay area\, absorbing more of the soul and funk grooves of what he calls “the early East Bay Grease sound” of San Francisco and Oakland bands. \nJohn’s talents did not go unnoticed and he soon signed a recording contract with Blind Pig Records. His national debut for that label\, “Magic Touch” (2007)\, produced by Anson Funderburgh and featuring Junior Watson on guitar\, received an ecstatic response from fans and the media\, and he was hailed as the new voice of the blues. Living Blues enthused\, “Magic Touch gives hope that the blues will survive.” In 2008 Németh was recruited by Elvin Bishop to do some performances and contribute four vocal tracks to his Grammy-nominated album “The Blues Rolls On.” \nNémeth released two more albums on the Blind Pig label\, “Love Me Tonight” (2009) & “Name The Day (2010)\, both hitting #6 on the Billboard Blues Chart\, and beginning his long string of Blues Music Award (BMA) nominations\, numbering 20 at last count. John has also won two Blues Blast Music Awards – Best New Artist Debut Recording and Sean Costello Rising Star Award. John followed up with two independently released live albums in 2012\, “Blues Live” and “Soul Live.” \nIn 2013 John relocated to Memphis\, Tennessee\, where he teamed up with producer Scott Bomar and his classic Memphis Soul band\, the Bo-Keys\, to create an album of revisited soul classics\, “Memphis Grease” (2014 Blue Corn)\, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard Blues Chart. John won the 2104 BMA for Best Soul Blues Male Artist\, followed by “Memphis Grease” winning Best Soul Blues Album in 2015. \nIn 2017 Németh released “Feelin’ Freaky” (produced by Luther Dickinson) on his own Memphis Grease label\, crushing all barriers of style and genre with an album of original songs that defied all the usual pigeonholes\, drawing from his strong influences in blues and R&B\, as well as contemporary sounds in hip hop and rock ‘n’ roll. Later that same year\, Németh was part of a side project “The Love Light Orchestra Featuring John Németh” recorded live at one of Memphis’ favorite watering holes\, Bar DKDC. The 10-piece band was initially envisioned by guitarist Joe Restivo\, vocalist John Németh and arranger/trumpeter Marc Franklin. \nNémeth returned to Electraphonic in December of 2019  with his seasoned road band of young gun players\, The Blue Dreamers\, featuring 19 year-old guitar phenom from Philadelphia\, Jon Hay\, drummer Danny Banks and Matt Wilson on bass for a rowdy southern swamp roots session resulting in his 10th album\, “Stronger Than Strong” demonstrating\, yet again\, his uncanny ability to skillfully blend retro and modern blues and soul into compelling music that is simultaneously old and new.

SUMMARY:The Traceys
DESCRIPTION:$5 minimum purchase \nplease tip the artists! \nBlues/Soul/Variety \nThe Traceys are a contemporary acoustic band that prides itself on its originality and soulful delivery. Their repertoire includes a wide variety of musical styles\, and features the fine three and four part harmony singing that has become their hallmark. While it’s hard to put a finger on the band’s musical style\, their influences include Americana\, Folk\, Bluegrass\, and Country Blues traditions. Their song selection includes both original and traditional compositions. \nThe core founders of the group\, brothers Larry and Michael Tracey\, began performing together in the Eugene area in 1989. Larry was a well established acoustic guitar player and singer songwriter on the Eugene music scene\, and Michael was a budding harmonica player and blues singer. Since the two joined forces to form The Traceys\, the band has performed extensively at festivals and venues up and down the west coast. The present band lineup is rounded out by veteran bass player and vocalist Steven Myers\, Sylvain DuPlant on Mandolin and Guitar\, and Root Tracey on vocals and percussion. \nMichael first met Root in 2010\, and the two were wed in 2011. When Larry and Michael started talking about getting the band back together in 2013\, both agreed they needed a female vocalist. Michael had been hearing his wife singing around the house from time to time\, and believed he could hear something special in her voice that was exactly what The Traceys needed. It has turned out to be a perfect fit\, and Root Tracey has been wowing audiences with her passionate soul singing and spot on percussion ever since. In addition\, Root is a powerful songwriter and has written several songs in the band’s repertoire. \nAs well as outstanding vocal harmonies\, The Traceys also feature the stellar harmonica playing and soulful singing of Michael Tracey. Michael was crowned 2007 Northwest Harmonica Champion and performed at the Willamette Valley Music Festival at the Cuthbert Amphitheater as one of the winners of the New Singer/Songwriter Competition. Michael was also crowned Best Male Blues Vocalist three years running\, from 2008 through 2010\, at the blues awards ceremony held by The Rainy Day Blues Society in Eugene. \nThe songs that The Traceys select to perform have special meaning to them. They believe that the songs that resonate with them will also touch the hearts of their audience\, and that is what they aim to do. Their soulful\, sometimes deeply personal\, music is known to take audiences on a musical journey. At a Traceys concert you may laugh\, sing along and\, perhaps\, even shed a tear or two. This unique band’s powerful music is not to be missed.

SUMMARY:RDBS Holiday Party Featuring Lisa Mann
DESCRIPTION:Rainy Day Blues Society Holiday Party! \nFree for members \n$10 donation for non members \nLisa Mann hails from blues-soaked Portland\, Oregon.  Originally from West Virginia\, Mann’s vocals effortlessly straddle the line between the honey sweet warmth of the south\, and the force-of-nature sound Mann has cultivated by mastering everything from hard rock to rhythm and blues. Her clever blues and Americana balladry is complimented by her considerable prowess on bass guitar. Her bass grooves deliver the solidness of a Muscle Shoals Swamper or a Funk Brother.\nHer influences run the gamut\, from low down blues sisters Etta James and Koko Taylor\, to singer-songwriters like Bonnie Raitt and R&B belters like Little Milton. She writes the majority of her recorded material\, and her songs paint pictures of a gritty (and sometimes humorous) personal experience in life\, love and the not-always-pretty music business. \nLisa has shared the stage with many Northwest greats\, such as the late Paul Delay\, Lloyd Jones\, Kevin Selfe\, Duffy Bishop\, Karen Lovely\, and Sonny “Smokin’” Hess. She has often lent her bass grooves and musical direction to Sonny Hess’ NW Women’s Rhythm and Blues Revue\, a very popular showcase at festivals such as the Waterfront Blues Fest\, and at Musicians for the Cure’s annual cancer charity Christmas show. \nLisa’s vocals appear on Canadian blues master Bill Johnson’s Juno Award nominated CD\, Still Blue. (www.billjohnsonblues.com)\, as well as on the soundtrack to the movie Woodstock or Bust (2019). She also lent her voice and bass to acclaimed symphonic rock project Cry for Eden. (www.cryforeden.com)\, and has released a traditional metal album The Poisoner under the pseudonym White Crone (www.whitecrone.com) \nCareer Highlights\n\nSong “It’s the Monkeys or Me” First Place in Blues category\, Unsigned Only Music Competition – 2021\nAlbum Old Girl hits Billboard Blues Chart Top Ten – 2020\nEuropean Blues Award nominee for Best Live Performance – 2018\nOregon Music Hall of Fame – NW Recording of the Year – Hard Times\, Bad Decisions – 2017\nBlues Music Awards\, Instrumentalist-Bass – 2015 & 2016\nBlues Blast Sean Costello Rising Star Award – 2014\nBlues 411 Jimi Award\, Best Rock/Blues Release – Move On – 2014\nCascade Blues Association Hall of Fame

SUMMARY:Ty Curtis
DESCRIPTION:$10 Cover \n\nTy Curtis has a Blues mojo that is alive and kicking\, a natural musical treat for all that stand before his stage. His offerings have a throwback Rock and Roll flair with an undeniable southern-fried ambiance. Blended\, it all adds up to the authenticity of his Blues Rock Style. His explosion of emotion-power-packed performances captures the undivided attention of audiences with tantalizing guitar fret work and highly intellectual lyrics. Add to the mix his exceptional vocals\, and in Ty Curtis\, you’ve found a classy performer that has ignited an exciting Blues career and a major Blues star in the making.“Ty Curtis is a triple threat\, since he is the band’s lead singer\, as well as the primary composer of their material\, and thirdly he’s a sonically incendiary\, string-shredding electric guitar player” (Blues Rock Review). Ty has been winning awards for his vocals and musicianship for the last 10 years. In 2009 his raw soulful version of 5 Long Years by Eddie Boyd captivated the audience and earned the band 2nd place in The International Blues Challenge and lead to performances at The Montreal Jazz Festival in Canada and the St John Blues Festival USVI. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHis first live music experience was Silverchair at the LB Day Amphitheater in Salem Oregon where Curtis grew up. “It was their performance and musicianship that made me want to play guitar and sing” he recalls “I wanted to rock out like them” and with that inspiration ingrained\, Ty asked his parents for a guitar which he never let go of. “It was this kid’s Toy Western guitar that my parents found at a garage sale\, the strings were way off the fretboard” he laughs  “I played that thing until my fingers bled” From the age of sixteen\, Ty started showing up at local clubs and playing at any blues jam he could find. It wasn’t long before he was winning over admirers and attracting a large fan base in the Northwest. With each subsequent album release Ty’s reputation continued to grow establishing him as one of the torch bearers in a new generation of Blues. The band competed in the Journey to Memphis in Portland through the Cascade Blues Association and won giving him the chance to perform on the National stage. It was there in Memphis that Ty met David Z which led to him producing the third album ‘Cross That Line’. \n \nAfter a move to Austin Texas Ty decided to pursue a musical relationship with Steve Miller Band’s guitarist Jacob Petersen. That pairing led to album releases “Ty Curtis” and “Water Under The Bridge” where both albums received high praise and rave reviews. “His ability to think outside the box\, and blend his influences from other genres of music fit perfectly amongst the assortment of true blues rock style. Ty redefines intelligent songwriting stepping away from the rigid forms of technicalities\, song structure\, and instrumentation used by the majority of blues rock artists”.  Bluesrockreview.com \nWith 5 albums under his belt Curtis decided to co produce his 6th album ‘Blame Me’ with the help of Austin producer and bassist Nick Jay (Ed Kowalzick\, Alpha Rev & SXSW engineer). Packed with soul\,blues and ripping guitar riffs\, Ty’s latest effort features some of the most heart-felt emotion tugging vocals to come out in several years reminiscent of Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers.’Back Again’ shows of Ty’s killer guitar work and he shifts gears on a  slower more soulful ‘I Can Say\,’ but still has those electric guitar moments interspersed at times occurring like exclamation points at key moments in the song. \nThe album received some of the best reviews of his career and was selected as #9 Top Blues Rock Albums of 2016 by Bluesrockreview.com placing with such names as Joe Bonamassa\, Jeff Beck and Devon Allman. Ty’s musicianship and voice at his live shows are electrifying\, draw from the rich blues tradition and leave audiences stunned. “Finding an artist that is an originator like Ty has always been a rare thing” – David Z (Prince\, Johnny Lang) and he is proving to be an artist that will be around for generations to come.
