SUMMARY:Billy D and The Hoodoos
DESCRIPTION:$10 Cover \n$7 Minimum Purchase \nPlease tip the artists! \nAward winning blues \nIn the last two years Billy D and the Hoodoos’ Somethin’s Wrong has charted on The Billboard Blues Album Charts once and Living Blues twice. It was named the Winner in the Blues Category of the 2013 UK Songwriting Contest\, and The 12 videos from the DVD have recently surpassed the two-million-hit milestone on YouTube! The band was also awarded Best New Act by the Cascade Blues Association. \nBilly D’s life experience has given him the strength to write his brand of “Bluzy Rock” with a passion that only comes from living it. Heavily influenced by Chicago blues\, Rock & Roll\, and “Backbeat Roots” music of all types\, his songs reflect the tough lessons of his past and show his love for Mother Blues and her first-born\, Rock & Roll. \nBorn on the south side of Chicago\, Billy Desmond grew up surrounded by the Blues and early Rock & Roll— a powerful combination. He started playing professionally at the age of fourteen\, primarily for teen dances and parties; and by eighteen\, he was sneaking into the blues clubs of Chicago to hear such greats as Muddy Waters\, Junior Wells\, Buddy Guy\, and James Cotton. Within a few years\, Billy would be working with blues legends Junior Wells\, Big Time Sarah\, and Detroit Junior. \nBy the late ‘70s\, he had formed his first band\, Skid City Blues Band\, taking on the roles of singer\, guitarist\, and songwriter. After years of touring the Midwest\, Billy moved to Los Angeles in 1984\, studying with Blues great Tony Matthews\, guitarist for Little Richard and Ray Charles. He spent half of the next year playing behind\, Don “Sugar Cane” Harris\, perhaps the world’s greatest blues violinist. \nIn the mid-’90s\, Billy moved to Santa Fe\, and began focusing on writing and playing his original songs. Within the year\, Billy D and the Hoodoos were formed. \nIn 2003\, KTAO voted his song She’s the One the number one song by a regional artist. KTAO hosts the Annual Solar Fest in New Mexico and that same year Billy and the band opened the Fest for Los Lonely Boys and Robert Cray. After several more successful years in New Mexico\, Billy left the southwest for Oregon in early 2010. His first CD\, Somethin’s Wrong has received outstanding reviews and accolades and has been embraced by the Portland music community as well as the rest of the U.S.\, Canada\, and Europe.

SUMMARY:Lloyd Jones & Rooster Tribute Birthday Extravaganza
DESCRIPTION:$18 Advance Click here to get your tickets today! \nAll advance sales will be added to the will call list available at the door day of show beginning at 7pm. \n$20 Cover \nPlease tip the artists! \n$9 minimum purchase \nSinger-songwriter-guitarist Lloyd Jones is one of the founding fathers of the NW blues scene. Along with a handful of other Oregonians of his generation\, including the late Paul deLay\, Robert Cray\, Curtis Salgado\, and Bill Rhoades\, Lloyd began playing and singing blues when there was no fan base and no existing venues. \n  \nPortland\, Oregon roots artist Lloyd Jones has recorded six critically acclaimed albums\, toured internationally\, and racked up dozens of major awards and accolades. He’s a relentless road dog\, hitting festival stages\, Delbert’s annual Sandy Beaches Cruises (he’s been a regular on six winter cruises)\, and clubs all across the land to enthusiastic crowds who can’t get enough of his swampy blues\, his back-porch picking\, his serious-as-anthrax funk\, soul\, roadhouse two-beats\, and old-school rhythm and blues (back before the R&B tag was somehow appropriated for other musical purposes\, apparently when we weren’t looking). Yet he may be the most invisible\, best-kept roots/blues/Americana secret on the contemporary scene. \n  \nJones is a master of the soulful understatement\, the raw growl\, and the groove. From his roots in muddy Oregon soil\, he’s forged a 30-plus-year career as an impassioned singer and fierce guitar slinger\, a clever and soulful songwriter\, a bandleader\, record producer\, and an almost strident torchbearer for all that’s true and good about America’s music. Jones is his own true artist who works diligently at pushing American roots music forward. \nWhat he does\, he says\, is “combine New Orleans rhythms\, the simplicity of Memphis music\, and the rawness of the blues\, all for the 21st century. This music is not about louder and faster. It’s about time\, meter\, groove. I thought Muddy and Walter and those guys were pushing the envelope in their era. They were using effects\, they were inventing their own sound. They were modern. I want to look at it in a contemporary way.” The gist is all the same — Lloyd Jones is the total package.

SUMMARY:Ty Curtis
DESCRIPTION:$12 Cover \n\nTy Curtis has a Blues mojo that is alive and kicking\, a natural musical treat for all that stand before his stage. His offerings have a throwback Rock and Roll flair with an undeniable southern-fried ambiance. Blended\, it all adds up to the authenticity of his Blues Rock Style. His explosion of emotion-power-packed performances captures the undivided attention of audiences with tantalizing guitar fret work and highly intellectual lyrics. Add to the mix his exceptional vocals\, and in Ty Curtis\, you’ve found a classy performer that has ignited an exciting Blues career and a major Blues star in the making.“Ty Curtis is a triple threat\, since he is the band’s lead singer\, as well as the primary composer of their material\, and thirdly he’s a sonically incendiary\, string-shredding electric guitar player” (Blues Rock Review). Ty has been winning awards for his vocals and musicianship for the last 10 years. In 2009 his raw soulful version of 5 Long Years by Eddie Boyd captivated the audience and earned the band 2nd place in The International Blues Challenge and lead to performances at The Montreal Jazz Festival in Canada and the St John Blues Festival USVI. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHis first live music experience was Silverchair at the LB Day Amphitheater in Salem Oregon where Curtis grew up. “It was their performance and musicianship that made me want to play guitar and sing” he recalls “I wanted to rock out like them” and with that inspiration ingrained\, Ty asked his parents for a guitar which he never let go of. “It was this kid’s Toy Western guitar that my parents found at a garage sale\, the strings were way off the fretboard” he laughs  “I played that thing until my fingers bled” From the age of sixteen\, Ty started showing up at local clubs and playing at any blues jam he could find. It wasn’t long before he was winning over admirers and attracting a large fan base in the Northwest. With each subsequent album release Ty’s reputation continued to grow establishing him as one of the torch bearers in a new generation of Blues. The band competed in the Journey to Memphis in Portland through the Cascade Blues Association and won giving him the chance to perform on the National stage. It was there in Memphis that Ty met David Z which led to him producing the third album ‘Cross That Line’. \n \nAfter a move to Austin Texas Ty decided to pursue a musical relationship with Steve Miller Band’s guitarist Jacob Petersen. That pairing led to album releases “Ty Curtis” and “Water Under The Bridge” where both albums received high praise and rave reviews. “His ability to think outside the box\, and blend his influences from other genres of music fit perfectly amongst the assortment of true blues rock style. Ty redefines intelligent songwriting stepping away from the rigid forms of technicalities\, song structure\, and instrumentation used by the majority of blues rock artists”.  Bluesrockreview.com \nWith 5 albums under his belt Curtis decided to co produce his 6th album ‘Blame Me’ with the help of Austin producer and bassist Nick Jay (Ed Kowalzick\, Alpha Rev & SXSW engineer). Packed with soul\,blues and ripping guitar riffs\, Ty’s latest effort features some of the most heart-felt emotion tugging vocals to come out in several years reminiscent of Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers.’Back Again’ shows of Ty’s killer guitar work and he shifts gears on a  slower more soulful ‘I Can Say\,’ but still has those electric guitar moments interspersed at times occurring like exclamation points at key moments in the song. \nThe album received some of the best reviews of his career and was selected as #9 Top Blues Rock Albums of 2016 by Bluesrockreview.com placing with such names as Joe Bonamassa\, Jeff Beck and Devon Allman. Ty’s musicianship and voice at his live shows are electrifying\, draw from the rich blues tradition and leave audiences stunned. “Finding an artist that is an originator like Ty has always been a rare thing” – David Z (Prince\, Johnny Lang) and he is proving to be an artist that will be around for generations to come.

SUMMARY:Daddy Rabbit
DESCRIPTION:$7 Cover \n$9 Minimum Purchase \nPlease tip the artists! \nAudiences may mistake the band is playing songs from the 1950s or ’60s. But they soon realize it’s original music that honors that early rock ‘n’ roll tradition\, and they get up and dance along. Rob Jacobs wouldn’t have it any other way. The guitarist and vocalist has experience in several different genres\, especially in rock’s later history. He played with indie rock outfit Long\, Tall and Ugly and punk band The Perverts previously. But he found his calling in the genre’s early roots. “I wanted to not play loud and fast constantly\, all the time\,” Jacobs said. “I started writing rockabilly stuff when I was with my other band\, and the drummer was like\, ‘I don’t want to play that kind of music.’ And I said\, ‘OK\, but I have to.’ ” That instinct has led to two albums\, energetic live performances and a growing reputation in Eugene-Springfield.
