SUMMARY:Lloyd Jones B-day Bash & RDBS Member appreciation show
DESCRIPTION:$15 ticket/$10 for RDBS members \nTickets available here! \nThis band actually includes no less than 3 (Count ‘em) “Oregon Musical Hall Of Fame Inductees\,” and it is expected to be a blow-out evening in Eugene.  When was the last time that a stage in Eugene was graced WITH THREE… “MUSIC HALL OF FAMER’S” all at once?? \n  \nThis gig will be on Lloyd Jones’ birthday\, so we expect to surprise him with a “Happy Birthday song to him\, and possibly a lil’ surprise\, when it’s nearly always Lloyd singing that to others in the crowd.” \n  \nLloyd partly wanted to expand his footprint back into the south valley again after nearly a decade\, to bring his brand new music\, and to ask help raising some production-funds to help him record his newest work.for a new Album! \n  \nA significant body of Lloyd’s newest-musical-creations will be presented to the public during this event at Mac’s in Eugene. \n  \nLloyd has played Eugene many times in the past\, including the Eugene Celebration\, The Wow Hall\, and other area venues as a staple. Jones enjoyed meet-ups with Curtis Salgato here back in the old-days.  Then Salgato went to Portland and hooked-up with others who regularly played Eugene\, such as Robert Cray\, Paul Delay\, Linda Hornbuckle and others\, all collaborators of Lloyd Jones at varying times. \n  \n  \n  \nSO\, WHO EXACTLY IS LLOYD JONES BAND? \n  \n  \nLLOYD JONES is a guitar player extraordinaire\, singer\, songwriter\, musical collaborator from Portland.  He’s an Oregon Music Hall Of Fame Inductee and many-times ground-zero at the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland and played numerous times at the Eugene Celebration.  As a Portland roots artist\, Lloyd has recorded six critically acclaimed albums\, toured internationally\, and racked up dozens of major awards and accolades. He’s a relentless road dog\, hitting festival stages\, Delbert McClinton’s annual Sandy Beach Cruises (he’s been a regular on six winter cruises)\, and clubs all across the land to enthusiastic crowds who can’t get enough of his swampy blues\, his back-porch picking\, his serious-as-anthrax funk\, soul\, roadhouse two-beats\, and old-school rhythm and blues.  Yet he may be “the most invisible\, best-kept roots/blues/Americana secret on the contemporary scene” in Oregon\, says Robert Cray. \n  \nhttp://www.lloydjonesmusic.com/lloyd_bio.htm \n  \n———————————————————————————————————————– \n  \nLOUIS PAIN was dubbed “KING LOUIE PAIN\, Portland’s Boss Of The B-3” by The Portland\, Oregonian and is himself\, also\, an Oregon Music Hall of Fame Inductee for his outstanding work and steady contributions. When called upon\, Louis is a dynamic soloist\, but he specializes in the subtle art of making the musicians and vocalists he works with “sound their best.”  For him\, the song’s the thing\, not showing off\, and that’s why he’s always in demand with his peers. \n  \nIt’s been that way since Louis started playing professionally in his hometown of San Francisco back in 1970.  He worked with some of the top musicians in the Bay Area in a variety of genres\, including funk guitarist Bruce Conte (Tower of Power)\, jazz saxophonist Jules Broussard (Ray Charles\, Santana)\, gospel vocalist Dorothy Morrison (“Oh\, Happy Day”)\, and the late rock/jazz saxophonist Cornelius Bumpus (Doobie Bros & Steely Dan).  Since moving to Portland in ‘86\, Louis has continued the trend\, working regularly with top Portland blues/soul artists including the late\, great Paul deLay and Linda Hornbuckle\, Curtis Salgado\, LaRhonda Steele\, Lloyd Jones\, Andy Stokes\, and Lisa Mann\, as well as with jazz musicians Mel Brown\, Thara Memory\, Renato Caranto\, Dan Faehnle\, and Dan Balmer.  Louis also is the “first call” organist to back visiting musical legends\, who have included Bernard “Pretty” Purdie\,” Phil Upchurch\, Martha Reeves (3 times)\, the Shirelles\, and now-departed musical giants Solomon Burke\, Howard Tate\, and Bo Diddley.  In the recording studio\, Louis has played on and/or produced or co-produced numerous CDs and received 4-star raves from prestigious Downbeat Magazine. \n6 min 15 sec T.V. Interview with Louis Pain:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1nItrItloY \n  \n  \n————————————————————————————————————————- \n  \n  \nCARLTON JACKSON on drums\, is yet another Oregon Music Hall of Fame Inductee on stage this night.  Jackson is well known on the Portland music circuit\, and Lloyd says that everyone in northwest music knows he’s a beast at the trap-set and excellent with Jones’ new body of work\, which is being introduced to Eugene at Mac’s Vet’s/Club.  Jackson has been a lifelong resident of Portland\, a drummer extraordinaire and host of The Message Sunday evenings from 7-10pm on KMHD. \n  \n  \n——————————————————————————————————————— \n  \nBEN JONES will by playing the Bass\, with Lloyd this evening\, and he’s a “Northwest Bass Powerhouse” according to Base Musician Magazine.  This dynamic musician has been a Bassist and Musical Director for over 35 years\, having toured or recorded with The Neville Brothers\, Liv Warfield\, Anita Baker and Jennifer Batten (to name just a few on his long and impressive list) as well as backed up Esperanza Spaulding in Portland\, laid down the groove for local Sax strongman Patrick Lamb… and yet he is equally as comfortable representing at the TC Electronics booth at NAMM and is always on the move. \nhttp://www.benjonesbass.com/bio/ \n. \n

SUMMARY:Blue Moon Marquee
DESCRIPTION:$7 Cover \nBlue Moon Marquee is a Gypsy Blues band born of the wild rose country. They currently make their home in an island shack on the coast of the Salish Sea. A.W. Cardinal (vocals/guitar) and Jasmine Colette a.k.a. Badlands Jass (vocals/bass/drums) write and perform original compositions influenced by anything that swings\, jumps or grooves. Artists such as Lonnie Johnson\, Louis Armstrong\, Blind Willie Jonson\, Charley Patton\, Howlin’ Wolf\, Screaming Jay Hawkins\, Tom Waits\, Memphis Minnie\, and Django Reinhardt are deeply infused in the soul of their music. \n      Blue Moon Marquee is primarily a live duo with the energy and sound of a full band. Colette\, the rhythm section\, not only commands the upright bass but also brings the swing with her feet on the kick drum\, snare and high hat\, all while singing harmonies. Cardinal is of the screaming and hollering blues tradition with distinctive thick and smoky vocals that barrel out like a raging bull. His guitar crackles with the swinging energy of jazz tinged blues. \nAppreciated for their authenticity\, Blue Moon Marquee have been nominated for a Maple Blues Award as best new artist of the year\, 2016. The duo were also the most requested band for the 2016 and 2017 TD International Jazz Festival circuit across Canada. Nominated for Indigenous Artist of the Year (2017)\, presented by Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN). Their songs have a heavy dose of atmosphere and texture with a penchant for poet characters and gritty settings. It is this connection to the working class that draws so many people to their music\, crossing many of the usual genre\, age and cultural bounds. Most importantly\, they make every song their own. After four years of playing together\, the group has developed a distinct\, personal voice that can be heard in each song. The result is an infectious mix of early blues\, jazz\, country\, and popular songs with a contemporary and relevant feel\, which is highly listenable and great for dancing. Blue Moon Marquee’s passionate performances and smouldering onstage chemistry is their trademark\, and the way Colette’s tones lift A.W.’s mystique is something that enthralls audiences from back room bars to festival stages to the velvet seated theaters. \n      To date\, Blue Moon Marquee has released three full length albums of their original compositions: “Gyspy Blues” (2016)\, “Lonesome Ghosts” (2014)\, “Stainless Steel Heart” (2013)\, and one online E.P. “Last Dollar” (20??). Their latest album\, “Gypsy Blues\,” charted at number 3 on the Earshot National Roots and Blues charts. The group has appeared on many radio stations around the world\, including a half hour special/interview on Holger Petersen’s Blues Hour for CBC.

SUMMARY:Layers of pink
DESCRIPTION:$6 Cover \nPop Songstress\, Layers of Pink\, Decimates with ‘The End Is Coming’ EP & US Tour\nBrace yourself. The End Is Coming. Layers of Pink’s double-A-side debut single The End Is Coming hit streaming platforms\nFriday\, February 1. Layers of Pink will be playing at Mac’s Nightclub & Restaurant on Saturday\, April 13th\, 2019 starting at 8p.\n“I’ve always been fascinated with the world ending in a really dramatic way\, where all of a sudden\, none of us sees it coming & all\nof our structures are crumbling\,” Mackenzie Pulse\, a.k.a. Layers of Pink\, said. “I think a lot of people feel like the end of the world\nis near\, even if it’s a subtle anxiety. I feel like we’re terrified of the way & how fast the world is changing\, so maybe it is the end of\nan era.”\nStream Layers of Pink’s new single at this media-only download link: https://soundcloud.com/mackenzie-pulse/sets/the-end-ep\nor Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/1xOCwSYw9Jo9IETb3eY1WZ?si=qM6840vLQfqSAjnGBDgLTQ\nPulse’s pop vocals (that’s not “pop” like Top 40\, but “pop” like a Tesla Coil) herald the apocalypse to distorted guitar fanfare in\n“The End Is Coming” and assesses the aftermath in acoustic catharsis on “The End\,” but upcoming music from her genre\nhopping-project will feature full-band funk and electronic experimentation. Nothing is necessarily out of character when there’s a\nfull cast of characters\, a palette of Layers of Pink\, to choose from. Subsequent releases will explore different shades\, but The End is\nall about Magenta.\n“The first song is about a girl who is battling apathy\,” Pulse said. “She’s trying to find a way to attach to something normal\, even\nthough the end of the world is happening\, so she kind of falls in love with another character to get that feeling. It’s like\, ‘If it’s the\nend of the world\, I guess we could spend it pretending to build a world of our own.’ And ‘The End\,’ picks up after the line ‘I swear\,\nthis doesn’t even feel like dying’\, when they wake up in some sort of afterlife or post apocalyptic world\, where they hear the sound\nof ocean waves as they begin to realize what it’s like\, after everything settles.” \nwww.layersofpink.co\nbooking@layersofpink.co

SUMMARY:2-Lane
DESCRIPTION:$5 Cover \n  \nJohn Alan Casey: Lead vocals\, rhythm guitar\, harmonica\nI can definitely say I was born into the business. Dad was a touring country/rockabilly musician. I performed my first live solo at the tender age of 5. Standing on a pool table in a small bar in a rural Montana town. I did Elvis’s rendition of “Hound Dog” \, complete with girating  hips and all the right moves. Followed with Johnny Horton’s version of “Tom Dooley” again with all the moves of a pro singer. The patrons showered the pool table with quarters….I was hooked for life.\nI’ve been in bands and doing solo gigs for  about 60 years. WOW that’s a long time when you see it in writing  At the young age of 67 I’m hoping to be able to continue to bring the happiness of live music to the people for a couple more decades\, at least!! THIS GRANDPA LIKES TO ROCK!!!!!\nGeorge Glasser: Lead guitar\, lead/harmony vocals\nWhen I was 6\, I went into Radio Shack with my dad on 29th and Willamette in my hometown of Eugene.  As he tracked down whatever gadget he was after\, I sought out my usual activity\, and went to look at the various holiday cards on display.  Amidst the typical assortment of funny dog pictures\, cute holiday cards and mushy Valentine’s Day cards\, there was one with a picture that caught my eye.  It was a photo of a red electric guitar in an open case.  The background was in black and white\, to add contrast to the radical instrument that was just sitting there\, begging to be slung ’round the shoulders of a rock star.  I was in awe!  It was the first time I’d seen a guitar.  I begged my parents for lessons\, and my own guitar.  It took two years\, but when I turned 8\, my dad took me down to Buy and Sell center where he let me pick out my first guitar: A red Fernandes Stratocaster!  I have been hooked ever since.  I live to love\, and I live to play music!\nDean Miller: Bass\, harmony vocals\nI remember as a  kid  in Phoenix\, AZ the day my brother called me in from playing in the yard to come check out this new band on TV. It was the first appearance in America by a band called “The Beatles”\, Feb 9th\, 1964. That’s when I knew I had to be in a band. At 13 years old\, I was hooked. I talked my parents into buying me  a cheap guitar and started playin.  I played rhythm guitar for over 20 years in a few bands. Then one day when I was introduced into a new band\, they talked me into playing bass. I liked it so much that I have been a bass player ever since. I really enjoy making music with this band. I think you will love coming to hear us perform. WE ROCK!!!\nD. Eugene McGee: Drummer\nHas been living in the Pacific Northwest\nsince he was five years old. His passion for music began\nin the fourth grade when he heard Black Sabbath on a 45\nwhile attending Catholic school. He joined the school band\nand began learning the snare drum. In high school\,he\nattended his first concert\, { The Amazing Rhythm Aces }\nand after hearing what drums sound like when they are amplified\nthe rest is history. His first rock band was called “Dark Side of the Moon”\nand they provided some of the music for a local production of\nBye Bye Birdie. His first paid performance was for a version of\n” Should I Stay or Should I Go” at a talent contest while serving\nin the U.S. Navy. Throughout the eighties and nineties he toured\nand recorded with Lazarus Sin\, receiving international press\nand airplay. Locally he has performed with Sabor Tropical\,\nThe Liberty Rhythm Band\, Powertrain and Micky and the Mojo Hitmen.\ncurrently promoting 2017’s ” …AS I SEE IT ”  the highly anticipated follow-up\nto 2015’s smash  ” WHAT SHE REMEMBERS “. \n
