SUMMARY:The Traceys
DESCRIPTION:Outdoors weather permitting \nNo Cover \n$7 Minimum Purchase \nPlease tip the artists! \nBlues/Soul/Variety \nThe Traceys are a contemporary acoustic band that prides itself on its originality and soulful delivery. Their repertoire includes a wide variety of musical styles\, and features the fine three and four part harmony singing that has become their hallmark. While it’s hard to put a finger on the band’s musical style\, their influences include Americana\, Folk\, Bluegrass\, and Country Blues traditions. Their song selection includes both original and traditional compositions. \nThe core founders of the group\, brothers Larry and Michael Tracey\, began performing together in the Eugene area in 1989. Larry was a well established acoustic guitar player and singer songwriter on the Eugene music scene\, and Michael was a budding harmonica player and blues singer. Since the two joined forces to form The Traceys\, the band has performed extensively at festivals and venues up and down the west coast. The present band lineup is rounded out by veteran bass player and vocalist Steven Myers\, Sylvain DuPlant on Mandolin and Guitar\, and Root Tracey on vocals and percussion. \nMichael first met Root in 2010\, and the two were wed in 2011. When Larry and Michael started talking about getting the band back together in 2013\, both agreed they needed a female vocalist. Michael had been hearing his wife singing around the house from time to time\, and believed he could hear something special in her voice that was exactly what The Traceys needed. It has turned out to be a perfect fit\, and Root Tracey has been wowing audiences with her passionate soul singing and spot on percussion ever since. In addition\, Root is a powerful songwriter and has written several songs in the band’s repertoire. \nAs well as outstanding vocal harmonies\, The Traceys also feature the stellar harmonica playing and soulful singing of Michael Tracey. Michael was crowned 2007 Northwest Harmonica Champion and performed at the Willamette Valley Music Festival at the Cuthbert Amphitheater as one of the winners of the New Singer/Songwriter Competition. Michael was also crowned Best Male Blues Vocalist three years running\, from 2008 through 2010\, at the blues awards ceremony held by The Rainy Day Blues Society in Eugene. \nThe songs that The Traceys select to perform have special meaning to them. They believe that the songs that resonate with them will also touch the hearts of their audience\, and that is what they aim to do. Their soulful\, sometimes deeply personal\, music is known to take audiences on a musical journey. At a Traceys concert you may laugh\, sing along and\, perhaps\, even shed a tear or two. This unique band’s powerful music is not to be missed.

SUMMARY:Lisa Mann & Lara Price “Double Dynamite”
DESCRIPTION:Outdoors weather permitting \nNo Cover \n$7 Minimum purchase \nLisa Mann hails from blues-soaked Portland OR where she has been inducted into the Cascade Blues Association Hall of Fame.  In both 2015 and 2016\, she won the Blues Music Award for best bassist from the Blues Foundation in Memphis TN.  Her most recent EP\, Old Girl\, hit the Billboard Blues Chart upon its release\, and has been featured on Sirius XM’s Bluesville. \nOriginally from West Virginia\, her voice effortlessly straddles the line between the honey-sweet warmth of the south and the force-of-nature sound she’s cultivated by mastering everything from rock and roll to Memphis soul.  Her clever blues balladry is complimented by her considerable prowess on bass guitar\, with grooves that touch on the hallowed soil of James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt. She writes the majority of her recorded material\, and her songs paint pictures of a gritty (and sometimes humorous) personal experience in life\, love and the not-always-pretty music business. \n  \nLara Price is a survivor… Born in the war-torn country of Vietnam in 1975 and abandoned at birth\, Lara became a part of the controversial “Operation Baby Lift”\, a mass evacuation of orphans from South Vietnam to the United States. As 90 percent of the orphaned babies did not survive\, her journey out of Vietnam to her new home was nothing short of a miracle. \nPrice discovered the power of music at the tender age of 6\, when she started
taking piano lessons in England with legendary 80’s music innovator Howard
Jones. At the age of 12 she found her singing voice. She arrived
in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1997 to pursue her dream of singing in a band.
By 1998\, Price began running her own blues jam at JJ’s Blues in San Jose\, and
was featured in Blues Revue Magazine.
Price has produced\, and co-written five albums\, and is featured on drums\, guitar\, and back up vocals. She has shared the bill with R&B legends\, Etta James\, James Brown\, Buddy
Guy\, Leon Russell and many more. Lara now resides in Austin\, Texas and has received a blues music nomination for Soul Blues Female Artist 2017.

SUMMARY:Polly O'Keary & The Rhythm Method
DESCRIPTION:Blues\, Blues Rock & Soul. Touring from Seattle! \n$10 Cover \n$7 minimum purchase \nPlease tip the artists! \nhttps://www.pollyokeary.com/ \nA century ago\, blues was born in the fields of the South\, played on porches and in little backwoods bars by kerosene lamp. The times have changed\, and it’s a rare blues musician who grew up picking cotton and going home to learn to play by the light of a hurricane lantern. \nPolly O’Keary certainly didn’t. Well\, that is\, she didn’t pick cotton. She picked apples. But she learned to read music by kerosene lamp in a log cabin in a remote part of Washington State. She started playing in ex-pat bars in Mexico at 16\, and Eastern Washington watering holes for rural farm workers at the age of 17. She dropped out of school with an 8th grade education\, married a prison-bound man at the age of 18 and by the time she was 21 had logged more stage hours than most musicians twice her age. She’d drunk as much as a fair number of them as well. \nAt 28\, upon seeing Jeff Healey at a friend’s bar in Canada\, she became obsessed with blues\, studying and practicing the genre until carpel tunnel syndrome temporarily rendered her hands nearly immobile\, and she quickly came to the attention of the Pacific Northwest blues scene with her powerful and emotional voice and her frenetic stage presence. \nToday\, she’s a PhD student\, a world-traveled bassist\, one of Washington State’s most highly-awarded female blues singers and songwriters (six-time Washington Blues Society Best Female Vocalist\, six-time Best Blues Songwriter\, etc.)\, doesn’t drink at all\, and no longer visits lovers in prisons. But her music reflects the life of a modern blues woman; she’s seen the river rise and take everything more than once\, and lived to laugh\, sing\, and write music about it. \nPolly O’Keary is today’s blues woman\, rooted in tradition\, but informed by the 21st Century. Pulling in influences from zydeco\, country\, funk\, jazz\, rockabilly\, surf and rock and roll\, she and her trio\, Polly O’Keary and the Rhythm Method\, bring a searing and joyful performance of today’s blues to audiences across the U.S. and Canada. \nPolly O’Keary and the Rhythm Method is the trio she built with her husband and drummer Tommy Cook\, also a highly sought touring drummer and three-time winner of the Washington Blues Society Blues Drummer award\, with whom she shared rhythm section duties for international touring act Too Slim and the Taildraggers for four years. \nRounding out the trio is David Miller\, who grew up listening to blues in Texas.  At 17\, then living in California\, Miller met a piano player who was then working for Tommy Castro. The older musician recruited Miller to come play at several bars\, and assured the young man that he could get him in\, underage though he was. Miller became a regular in clubs in the Bay Area\, sitting in with local and touring acts night after night. At 25\, then living in San Luis Obispo\, he assembled The Dave Miller Band\, and for the next 18 years\, he and the group went on to become one of Southern California’s most popular blues bands\, leading one reviewer to describe his “jaw-dropping guitar licks” and praise his “extraordinary mixture of inspiring virtuosity both vocally and instrumentally.” \nTogether\, the band has done 10 national tours\, released four critically acclaimed albums; been nominated for three Independent Blues Music awards including Band of the Year\, Album of the Year and Song of the Year; won Blues Band of the Year from the LA Music Critic; been a top five finalist in the International Blues Challenge Best Self-Produced CD contest; has had a  #1 single on contemporary blues radio and a #4 album; charted on Living Blues\, and received a total of 26 awards from the Washington Blues Society and the Inland Empire Blues Society\, including Best Songwriter\, Best Blues Guitar\, Best Blues Drummer\, Best Blues Vocalist\, and Best Blues Bass\, among others. \nCritical acclaim:  \n“A power blues trio in the finest sense of the term- guitarist David Miller is a revelation. The songwriting is consistently strong and catchy without ever losing its driving edge”-Chameleon Fire \n“Polly O’Keary is a powerhouse blues/rock singer whose voice has the resonance and attitude that permeates her impressive bass playing” -Blues in Britain \n“O’Keary is a great songwriter and The Rhythm Method is a great band” –Making a Scene \n“A powerful voice\, full of the primitive force of the blues” –Historia Del Blues \n“O’Keary is a powerful singer- a primal force…mastery of the groove is everything- if you don’t have that you’re missing the point\, and Polly O’Keary & The Rhythm Method have it down cold…extremely cool” Gonzo Okanagan \n“Excellent musicians…David Miller is an ace of the Stratocaster…” Blues Again \n“Just listen to the monster bass playing…” Blues in the South \n“Polly O’Keary strong voice is an instrument in itself. With such a tight backing band\, this is release is a must!”-Key and Chords\n\n“It’s unanimous\, we love Black Crow Callin’\, in which Polly O’Keary and the Rhythm Method put finesse and talent\, as well as all their passion and energy. Essential!” – Zicazac\, \n“Miller’s guitar work is outstanding. Their songs are powerful self-expressions…” Professor Johnny P \n“She is a great bassist (and soloist!) besides being an excellent singer\, Polly O’Keary and the Rhythm Method deserve your attention\,” Rootstime \n“Polly has a voice equally at home screamin’ and cryin’\,  shoutin’ and testifyin! As it is with all great musicians\, Polly O’Keary pulls out all the stops with her clever\, topical original songwriting and first-class musicianship for ‘Black Crow Callin’.’  This set is primal\, passionate blues from a woman who’s seen hardship first-hand and come out on the other side!” Don and Sheryl’s Blues Blog. \n“With powerful pipes like Bonnie Raitt and Etta James\, bass licks worthy of Sir Paul or Sting\, and a musical chemistry that is head and shoulders above many other bands\, these cats have come to sing. They immediately grab your attention from the first note of the album\, and never let up… The combination of rich guitar and bass riffs and soaring blues vocals creates music that will stimulate your senses and make you want to move.  Get out and get it and thank us later.” LA Music Critic \n“Blues from the heart\, full of enthusiasm and life experience\,” Rudolf’s Music. \n“This hard hitting\, primal blues rocker knows her mind and heart…O’Keary can blaze her own trail and beat all comers to the finish line…Excellent stuff.” –Midwest Record. \n
