SUMMARY:Blue Moon Marquee
DESCRIPTION:Blue Moon Marquee is a Gypsy Blues band born of the wild rose country. They currently make their home in an island shack on the coast of the Salish Sea. A.W. Cardinal (vocals/guitar) and Jasmine Colette a.k.a. Badlands Jass (vocals/bass/drums) write and perform original compositions influenced by anything that swings\, jumps or grooves. Artists such as Lonnie Johnson\, Louis Armstrong\, Blind Willie Jonson\, Charley Patton\, Howlin’ Wolf\, Screaming Jay Hawkins\, Tom Waits\, Memphis Minnie\, and Django Reinhardt are deeply infused in the soul of their music. \nBlue Moon Marquee is primarily a live duo with the energy and sound of a full band. Colette\, the rhythm section\, not only commands the upright bass but also brings the swing with her feet on the kick drum\, snare and high hat\, all while singing harmonies. Cardinal is of the screaming and hollering blues tradition with distinctive thick and smoky vocals that barrel out like a raging bull. His guitar crackles with the swinging energy of jazz tinged blues. \nAppreciated for their authenticity\, Blue Moon Marquee have been nominated for a Maple Blues Award as best new artist of the year\, 2016. The duo were also the most requested band for the 2016 and 2017 TD International Jazz Festival circuit across Canada. Nominated for Indigenous Artist of the Year (2017)\, presented by Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN). Their songs have a heavy dose of atmosphere and texture with a penchant for poet characters and gritty settings. It is this connection to the working class that draws so many people to their music\, crossing many of the usual genre\, age and cultural bounds. Most importantly\, they make every song their own. After four years of playing together\, the group has developed a distinct\, personal voice that can be heard in each song. The result is an infectious mix of early blues\, jazz\, country\, and popular songs with a contemporary and relevant feel\, which is highly listenable and great for dancing. Blue Moon Marquee’s passionate performances and smouldering onstage chemistry is their trademark\, and the way Colette’s tones lift A.W.’s mystique is something that enthralls audiences from back room bars to festival stages to the velvet seated theaters. \nTo date\, Blue Moon Marquee has released three full length albums of their original compositions: “Gyspy Blues” (2016)\, “Lonesome Ghosts” (2014)\, “Stainless Steel Heart” (2013)\, and one online E.P. “Last Dollar” (20??). Their latest album\, “Gypsy Blues\,” charted at number 3 on the Earshot National Roots and Blues charts. The group has appeared on many radio stations around the world\, including a half hour special/interview on Holger Petersen’s Blues Hour for CBC.

She is considered one of the best singers of blues\, jazz\, and Motown. \nUpbeat blues with some rock for spice and a splash of funk\, Joanne Broh will get you dancing and wanting more! \nJoanne Broh has opened for Leon Russell\, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood\, Karen Lovely\, Ty Curtis\, and Lionel Young. \n\nWinner Female Blues Vocalist Rainy Day Blues Society\nJourney to Memphis (International Blues Challenge) Finalist Cascade Blues Association\n2016 Best Recording Rainy Day Blues Society\n\nGarry Meziere \nGarry Meziere has had a guitar in his hand ever since he was ten years old. It was the guitarist Chet Atkins that initially inspired the young boy to want to play. His father also a guitarist gave Garry his beginning foundation on the instrument that paved the way to his life long love of the instrument. \n Meziere grew up listening to rock and roll\, country\, jazz\, and blues which he has drawn on through the years to create his original and unique style of playing and writing music. It is fair to say that to hear him play you get an immediate sense of passion that will move you like never before. \n He formed the Reflex Blue Band in 1988 in Salem\, Oregon and after several reincarnations in the winter of 1995 he teamed up at a jam session in Portland\, Oregon with local vocalist Ellen Whyte. By this time Meziere was already well-known for his powerful playing ability and strong song writing; Ellen was also known for her dynamic vocal capabilities. It was a chance meeting between them that would prove to turn heads and ears for the next eight years \n   The two began performing in the spring of 1996 and released their first CD\, Different Point of Blue that fall. It was met with great enthusiasm in the Northwest area and won Best Northwest Recording from the Cascade Blues Association. Meziere and Whyte would go on to become a writing team that continued to grow and develop through two more CDs and garnered numerous awards both for recording and performance including three nominations for Meziere for Best Electric Guitar.\n \n\n  \n\n\n\nMeziere continued to move in a new direction with the release of his new CD Born with the Blues in 2004. The CD features 12 new tunes all written by Garry and with some help from his long time musical friend Frank Ryals. The music covers a wide spectrum of the blues which has become a trademark for the guitarist. \n\n\nHe keeps busy these days teaching guitar and performing with his long time partner Ellen Wyhte. He performs in his own band the Ivie Meziere Band featuring another long time musical mentor and friend Orvil Ivie on guitar also and still performs two nights a month with Richard Day Reynolds. \nHe has been in the studio recording a 4th CD with Ellen Whyte that is set for release in June this year. The CD is the best so far according to Ellen and Garry. The CD will feature 11 new original tunes and show cases the very best talent in Portland today! \nHe also has recorded recently with Blues and Jazz singer Karen Dumont. She is planning her CD release sometime in June also. Garry co-wrote two tunes with Karen and she did a cover of  “Wish You Were Here” off of Garry’s CD Born With The Blues. \nHe continues to write new material and is currently working on material with Orvil Ivie for recordings with the Ivie Meziere Band. They hope to have a CD out in the near future. \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n  \n\n\n\n“Garry Meziere’s lead guitar is the equal of anything you will ever hear. He is equally comfortable with ringing\, bell-like blues leads\, with soaring rock solos\, and tasty jazz improvisation.” \n DAILY FREEMAN\,\nNEW YORK / Phillip H. Farber \n\n\n\n\n
