Along with a handful of other Oregonians of his generation\, including the late Paul deLay\, Robert Cray\, Curtis Salgado\, and Bill Rhoades\, Lloyd began playing and singing blues when there was no fan base and no existing venues. \n  \nPortland\, Oregon roots artist Lloyd Jones has recorded six critically acclaimed albums\, toured internationally\, and racked up dozens of major awards and accolades. He’s a relentless road dog\, hitting festival stages\, Delbert’s annual Sandy Beaches Cruises (he’s been a regular on six winter cruises)\, and clubs all across the land to enthusiastic crowds who can’t get enough of his swampy blues\, his back-porch picking\, his serious-as-anthrax funk\, soul\, roadhouse two-beats\, and old-school rhythm and blues (back before the R&B tag was somehow appropriated for other musical purposes\, apparently when we weren’t looking). Yet he may be the most invisible\, best-kept roots/blues/Americana secret on the contemporary scene. \n  \nJones is a master of the soulful understatement\, the raw growl\, and the groove. Her father was a music major and semenary graduate who had a gift for arranging 4 part harmonies. So Shelley’s ear developed being the youngest singing Alto\, her big brother sang tenor\, Mom had Soprano\, and Daddy sang the bass. They toured Western Canada for several years before she went off to college. She started a band with a flautist and jazz guitar player who performed jazz and pop much to the delight of the following they grew in the northwest. They recorded a CD\, and soon wanted to add bass and drums. This is how Shelley met Callan her bass player husband of 25 years. They went on to collaborate\, write and record and perform together. Shelley has been a trusted worship leader in her home church\, and in numerous churches around the area. She became known for being able to bless the house when needed as a help if the team is on vacation or transition. She started her band Shelley James m u s i c b o x in 1997 which is still together as a 6 piece smooth 80s pop/rock outfit. She is also a founding member and manager of Satin Love Orchestra for 22 years. Shelley and Cal spend a few years in LA where they collaborated with musicians Sheila E.\, Terron Brooks\, Jonathan Butler and others. They continue to perform\, write and record in Lane County\, or can be seen on the beaches of O’Ahu where they spend as much time as possible too. They enjoy their daughter Eva\, and 4 cats as well as their family and friends to the fullest.
