Joan Armatrading/ Melissa Etheridge Tribute

Melissa Etheridge is one of rock music’s great female icons. Her critically acclaimed eponymous debut album was certified double platinum. Etheridge’s popularity built around such memorable songs as “Bring Me Some Water,” “No Souvenirs” and “Ain’t It Heavy” for which she won her first Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal. Etheridge hit her commercial and artistic stride with her fourth album, Yes I Am, featuring the massive hits “I’m the Only One” and “Come to My Window,” a searing song of longing that brought her a second Grammy.

 

“I write,” says Joan Armatrading, “because I love it.” With 21 superlative albums to her credit, the latest released world-wide on BMG in 2018, Joan’s subtle and sublime music has touched millions of people all over the world. The very first British female singer/songwriter to gain international success, Joan has won accolade after accolade. Having been honoured by an MBE from the Queen in 2001, In 2020  Joan was awarded a CBE and she has even received the keys to Sydney along the way.  In 1974, she signed to A&M world-wide and a whole plethora of classic and memorable songs followed – “Love and Affection”, “Down To Zero”, “Drop the Pilot”, “Me Myself I” to name but a few.

Sonny “Smokin” Hess, the first woman nominated in a male dominated field for Best Lead Guitar by the Cascade Blues Association, also holds a nomination for CBA’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Sonny is also widely known for her productions of the NW Women R&B Show, a specialty show she takes pride in producing. Joanne Broh is a column of energy, known for her powerful, soulful voice and the passion of her performance. Winner Female Blues Vocalist Rainy Day Blues Society, Journey to Memphis (International Blues Challenge) Finalist Cascade Blues Association.
