Pop Songstress, Layers of Pink, Decimates with ‘The End Is Coming’ EP & US Tour

Friday, February 1. Layers of Pink will be playing at Mac’s Nightclub & Restaurant on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 starting at 8p.
“I’ve always been fascinated with the world ending in a really dramatic way, where all of a sudden, none of us sees it coming & all
of our structures are crumbling,” Mackenzie Pulse, a.k.a. Layers of Pink, said. “I think a lot of people feel like the end of the world
is near, even if it’s a subtle anxiety. I feel like we’re terrified of the way & how fast the world is changing, so maybe it is the end of
an era.”

Pulse’s pop vocals (that’s not “pop” like Top 40, but “pop” like a Tesla Coil) herald the apocalypse to distorted guitar fanfare in
“The End Is Coming” and assesses the aftermath in acoustic catharsis on “The End,” but upcoming music from her genre
hopping-project will feature full-band funk and electronic experimentation. Nothing is necessarily out of character when there’s a
full cast of characters, a palette of Layers of Pink, to choose from. Subsequent releases will explore different shades, but The End is
all about Magenta.
“The first song is about a girl who is battling apathy,” Pulse said. “She’s trying to find a way to attach to something normal, even
though the end of the world is happening, so she kind of falls in love with another character to get that feeling. It’s like, ‘If it’s the
end of the world, I guess we could spend it pretending to build a world of our own.’ And ‘The End,’ picks up after the line ‘I swear,
this doesn’t even feel like dying’, when they wake up in some sort of afterlife or post apocalyptic world, where they hear the sound
of ocean waves as they begin to realize what it’s like, after everything settles.”
